Nothing will ever be the same again… So what now?
Covid-19, the 2022 presidential election: a time of new paths, new voices, presents itself to us to rethink and reshape the world. Ludovic Deblois offers us a meaning, a concrete path, with his exploration at the heart of the notion of autonomy. He invites us to reconsider our power as citizens, as individuals, and our collective future, going as far as imagining other ways of building relations between nations. The situation is worrying, dangerous. For several decades, political vision has been marked by its emptiness. Our leaders navigate to the rhythm of financial or health crises, of citizens' anger or the expectations of the globalised market. With no horizon, peoples despair, abandon the democratic stage, and retreat into their individual worlds. Social media and fake news build spaces where "one's own" world has become "the" world, where noise matters more than substance. In the midst of the Covid-19 crisis, political leaders or certain intellectuals imagine new rallying causes, invoking the fight against climate disruption, sovereigntism or the reindustrialisation of France. While these themes make it possible to describe short-term objectives, they in no way sketch out an emancipating and motivating direction for citizens as a whole.
So… With the 2022 presidential election approaching, the time has come to build a vision that unites. Faced with a neoliberalism that is often unjust and devastating, it is time to think of freedom alongside responsibility, to question autonomy — that of individuals, of organisations, of institutions. But what is autonomy? How can it form the pillar of a vision serving our democracy, our economy, future generations, or a more united world?
Easy to access even though the subjects are initially complex, Autonomie(s) makes it possible to understand many aspects of our current society and of the one we might hope to see emerge. Ludovic Deblois succeeded, for my part, in capturing my attention and making me feel more at ease with questions such as Europe, the education of tomorrow, or the company of tomorrow. This notion of autonomy is truly interesting and decidedly very topical! The way it is treated allowed me to gain another perspective on things. Frankly, well done, because the starting exercise was ambitious.
This book is a source of reflection on the notion of autonomy. Ludovic Deblois opens up and develops this notion through different themes (Europe, education, business, politics). The scope of application of this theme is broad. It allows us to grasp how autonomy can take shape within our society.
The work is concise and accessible. It reads smoothly. By the end of the book, new avenues for reflection present themselves to us.
