Will betrayal become legion in the age of AI?

In a video for the RTBF, the photojournalist Roger Job cannot tell a real image from a fake one generated by AI. His anguish as a teacher overwhelms him: what will he teach his pupils? His emotion is palpable. Will we have to become archaeologists of the true, forced to look behind every image for the traces of what really existed? Is this situation inevitable? Do we have the capacity to contain it, or must we accept feeling betrayed by what we see?

What will become of the human being when nothing seems immutable any more?

Each year a little more, life teaches us that many things we thought immutable can disappear. The grove we cherish, ravaged by a fire. The river in which our children played with pebbles in summer, now dried up. The harvest from our vegetable garden, wiped out after too long a heatwave. Birdsong, in the morning on waking, grown rarer as populations decline.
